Brewers Win! 11-3! Total Domination of Twinkies! PLUS: A Fantastic Muscial Tribute! PLUS: Special Bonus Tribute!

Loyal Readers and Brewers Fans!

Welcome Back to Your Favorite Brewers Blog!

And How About Those Brewers!

Friday’s game against the Twinkies turned into a laugher.

The Brewers have won three straight and last night’s game was impressive.

Watching the game with the Beautiful Butterfly I had the sense that the team had suddenly come alive, playing the High Octane fueled Baseball complete with explosive hitting, crisp fielding, strong starting pitching, and great relief work.

The Crew were totally dominant in every phase of the game.

In Sum:

The Brewers played like they meant it.

And did they ever.

Claudio Vargas looked cool and confident even after giving up solo shots to the Twinkie big hitters. In the bottom of the sixth, and in trouble, Vargas got down-got nasty-and got out of it.

Vargas Dealing.

Watching the game on MLB.com I heard for the first time someone refer to Geoff Jenkins as being “dangerous." Following which, Good Ol’ Number 5 promptly and emphatically clobbered a low fast ball deep over the right center wall.
Counttofour

Dangerous.

And it was good for four.

Not to be out done, Prince Fielder, who is now routinely impressing everyone everywhere with his show of power during batting practice, hit a bomb high and deep into right center for a two-run homer.

On His Way To 60.

It must becoming clear even to the most recalcitrant of Nay-Sayers that Fielder has the potential to be something Special, I mean really special as a home run hitter. He is on pace to hit 60 home runs or more, this coming about after the era of pharmaco-cheating.

But one of the most impressive things about Friday’s game was Brian Shouse (follow the link for more photos.)

Shouse

Wow.

He came into the game in the eighth inning and proceeded to strike out the first batter and then get an assist for the put out of the next four. Ending the game on a line drive hit to Craig Counsell.

Shouse was Lights-Out!

It may have been a one-off thing (and admittedly, I don’t know if he was ever as good as he was last night) but if he can do that kind of thing again, and do it consistently, this team will have a very legitimate shot at going deep into the playoffs.

Well, well, well.

Look who’s back, and it seems that it may be for good.

Bill Hall!

Did we miss you Bill!

And how!

Welcome Back!

For all of the talk of the Brewers slide and how the Cardinals, Cubs, and even the Astros will catch them, let’s take a quick peek at the standings:

Milwaukee  37     30     .552
Chi Cubs     31     36     .463     6.0
St. Louis     28     36     .438     7.5
Pittsburgh   29    38     .433     8.0
Houston      28     39     .418     9.0
Cincinnati   26     42     .382     11.5

Yeah, that’s what I thought.

Before we get to the Fantastic Musical Tribute, let me tell you a quick story.

I love pie.

It’s true.

I don’t often eat pie though for a number or reasons, one of which is that I don’t know how to bake very well and no one has ever before made me a pie.

Until now.

Blueberrypie

Heaven on Earth.

Dear Friends, if you have ever had someone make you pie you know of what I speak, but for those of you haven’t yet had this done for you, you do not know what you are missing.

It just doesn’t get any better than this.
